I Kissed a Girl - an ode of curiosity about sexuality - dropped a couple of months later. It had a hard electro-pop sound and a strong stance. I Kissed a Girls was immediately a hit but the song quickly caused controversy. Many critics argued that the track was a promotion of sexual relations between men and women, however others believed that the scene the song depicted was more appealing to fantasies of males. I Kissed a Girl, a combination of titillation coupled with a sophisticated melody, helped I Kissed a Girl to be a top-rated hit across the world and boost sales for her album, One of the Boys. Hot N Cold, Perry's bouncy and sharply-tongued album with its second hit single also became a huge hit. The album Perry composed herself sold more than three million copies.
